Alan McManus

Alan McManus ( born January 21, 1971 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish snooker player.

Career

McManus began his professional career in 1990 and made it in just two years in the top 16 in the world rankings, where he was to hold until 2005.

In the years 1992 and 1993 McManus reached the semi-finals of the World Snooker Championship, respectively. He won the 1994 Dubai Duty Free Classic and the Masters in 1994. 1996 he won the Thailand Masters. The Young Player of the Year in 1991 was, together with Stephen Hendry and John Higgins for Scottish Dream Team, the 1996 Castrol Honda World Cup and the 2001 Coalite Nations Cup won.

For the time being his last appearance in a final of the main tour it set 2002/ 03 in the LG Cup defeat against Chris Small. In the two years it did after his successes, so that after 14 years, first published in 2006 fell out of the Top 16. In the following years he had to struggle to maintain its position among the top 48. In 2012 he achieved his worst so far world ranking of No. 51.

The Welsh Open 2013 McManus managed a small comeback. He beat Joe Perry in the second round 4-3 (after a 0-3 down ) and thus was the first time since October 2006 again in the quarter- finals of a world ranking tournament. There, however, he had to admit defeat to his compatriot Stephen Maguire.
