Alan Milburn

Alan Milburn ( born January 27, 1958 in Birmingham ) is a British Labour Party politician.

Life

Milburn completed post-school studies at Lancaster University.

In the elections of 9 April 1992, he was first elected to the lower house (House of Commons ) for the Labour Party and represented there until the elections on 6 May 2010 the constituency of Darlington.

After the election of the Labour Party in the general election of 1 May 1997, he became a Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and subsequently from December 1998 to October 1999 Chief Secretary Chancellor of the Exchequer (Chief Secretary to the Treasury). After a further reshuffle, he was on 11 October 1999 Minister of Health in the government of Prime Minister Tony Blair and held that office until his replacement by John Reid on 13 June 2003.

He most recently served as the successor to Douglas Alexander 8 September 2004 up to the general election on May 5, 2005 Minister in the Cabinet Office and Chancellor of the Duchy of both Lancaster.
