Alan Musgrave

Alan Musgrave ( born 1940 ) is a British philosopher and philosopher of science, who was, from 1970 to 2005 Head of the Philosophy Department of the University of Otago (New Zealand) but since then still taught.

Musgrave was years a student of Karl Popper at the London School of Economics and has enriched the critical rationalism to contribute mainly to questions of realism in the theory of knowledge and a philosophical theory of rationality. Other focal points of his work are epistemology, philosophy of history and philosophy of biology.
