Alan Prince

Alan Sanford Prince ( born June 20, 1946) is professor of linguistics at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Prince has developed optimality theory together with Paul Smolensky in the early 1990s. Prior to his work at Rutgers University, he taught linguistics at Brandeis University and the University of Massachusetts.
