Alan Smith (footballer born 1962)
Alan Martin Smith ( born November 2, 1962 in Bromsgrove ) is an English former football player who was known primarily for his time at Arsenal.
Career
The striker began his career at amateur club FC Alvechurch before he was in 1982 at Leicester City for a professional footballer. There, he formed a successful strike partnership with Gary Lineker and met in 206 games 84 times the gate. Five years later he moved for a transfer fee of £ 850,000 for Arsenal FC, where he played until his career end in 1995 and in 324 games was 166 times successfully as a scorer.
He was also active for the English national team, but there is much less successful than in his club career. From 1988 to 1992, he scored two goals in 13 games.
