Alan Sunderland

Alan Sunderland ( born July 1, 1953 in Conisbrough, Yorkshire ) is a former English footballer.

Life and career

Sunderland began his professional football career at Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1970. With the Wolves in 1974 he won the English League Cup in 1977 and grew with the team in the highest English Game class. November 1977, he spent £ 220,000 for Arsenal. In the FA Cup final in 1979 the English took the team title by scoring the winning goal in extra time against Manchester United. Sunderland stayed another five years with the Gunners. After many injuries and loss of his ordinary course, he joined in February 1984 on loan to Ipswich Town. For two years he stayed with the blues before he could finish his career with the Irish club Derry City. Internationally, he played once for the England football team against Australia. After his career end Sunderland founded a pub in Ipswich. Today, the Englishman lives in Malta.
