Alan Watson, Baron Watson of Richmond

Alan John Watson, Baron Watson of Richmond OBE ( born February 3, 1941) is a British politician ( Liberal Democrats ), presenter and advertising expert.

Life and career

Alan John Watson of Richmond in 1941, the son of Reverend John William Watson and Edna Mary Watson ( nee Peters) was born. He received his early education in the Diocese of Cape Town, South Africa and in the School of Kingswood in Bath. Then he studied at Cambridge and received the degree of MA. He was also Vice President of the Cambridge Union Society.

Currently ( December 2010), Watson is Chairman of CTN (Corporate Television Networks ) and the European Supervisory Board of Coca Cola. Many leading UK and international companies consult it regularly as a consultant for public relations. Early in his career as a manager, he was managing director of advertising agency, Charles Barker City and finally board member of many other advertising, public relations and media company for several years. Immediately after his time in Cambridge he was also discovered by television, where he designed several successful broadcast series for the BBC and these also themselves regularly moderated based on their own scripts. He also appeared in other programs and collected with his documentaries over the years a number of awards. In addition, he spent six years as Chairman of the English Speaking Union and is now chairman retired.

In addition to its obligations in a number of British institutions he has rendered by his work as a representative of the United Kingdom in the UNICEF further prestige and received state awards in Romania. Watson also has a number of different positions at universities in and outside the United Kingdom. He is, among other things chair of the Cambridge Foundation, High Steward of the University of Cambridge for life, honorary doctorate from the University of St. Lawrence ( USA), Visiting Lecturer in Leuven and honorary professor at the State University of St. Petersburg.

Politically, he served as Chairman of the Liberal Party; He became a member of the House of Lords as Baron Watson of Richmond in 1999. In Germany he was awarded for his services to the German -British relations with the Great Cross of Merit with Star.

Watson was also the Liberal Party candidate for the constituency of Richmond ( Richmond and later Barnes ) in four British general election; October 1974, 1979, 1983 and 1987. In all the general election, he lost to the Conservative Party.

Publications

Lord Watson is the author of several highly regarded publications. On 17 November 2010 he presented in Germany in the lobby of Kettler 's Court in Münster with great success excerpts from his book, Jamestown: The Voyage of English.
