Alanna Kraus

Alanna Kraus ( * June 30, 1977 in Abbotsford ) is a former Canadian Shorttrackerin. She won two Olympic medals and numerous medals at world championships, including a world title.

Kraus came up with four years to speed skating and short track speed skating. In 1998 she was admitted to the national team and coached under Jonathon Cavar the performance center in Calgary. In November 1999 she made her debut in the World Cup. Already at their second World Cup they reached about 500 m and 1000 m for the first time the semi-finals. At the World Championships 2000 in Sheffield Kraus won the bronze medal in the relay. The following season, they could also win bronze at the World Team Championships in Minamiaiki. In the World Cup, she won over 500 m and in the squadron its first podium.

In the 2001 /02 season Kraus won her first World Cup race of the season. At the World Championships in Montreal and the Team World Championship in Milwaukee she again won a bronze medal each. She qualified for the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. There, she reached over 500 m in sixth, eighth over 1000 m and 1500 m in fifth place. In the season they won the bronze medal.

The World Cup season 2002/ 03 was Kraus ' most successful. It reached a total of six podium finishes, including a victory in the relay and a second place on 500 m. In the overall World Cup they finished sixth in the World Cup discipline over 1000 m and over 500 m Second Third. By winning the silver medal in the relay, they finished the season at the World Cup in Warsaw successfully. Your only international medal in an individual race was won by Kraus at the 2004 World Championship in Gothenburg. She was third over 1500 m. In the World Team Championship 2004 in St. Petersburg, she was also in the final fourth. Again, a year later, she won her only world title at the World Championships in Beijing. She won the title in the relay. Also in the World Team Championships in Chuncheon she was successful by winning the bronze medal.

The Olympic 2005/06 season was again successful for Kraus. In the World Cup she won in the Season three podiums. Also in the season they won at the World Championships in Minneapolis silver, at the World Team Championships in Montreal, she won with her teammates bronze. They started in the Olympic Games in Turin and also won in their second participation medal in the relay, this time silver. About 500 m was also ninth. Due to injury, they missed the entire following season and could not then within the Canadian teams qualify for World Cup races and international championships. In 2008, she ended her active career.
