Alara of Nubia

Alara was a Nubian king who appears as the forefather of the Nubian dynasty in various texts, but which is not known from contemporary sources (see, however: Aryamani ).

Little is known about his person. He was probably the predecessor of Kashta, but was not yet the full royal titulary. His relationship with Kaschta is controversial. While previous research emanated from a brother relationship, recent research is more cautious, since little is known about the succession provisions in the Nubian royal family.

The wife of Alara was Kasaqa. As the daughter of Tabira is known, was the wife of Piye and Alara mentioned on a stele from al - Kurru. It has been suggested that Alara was buried in al - Kurru, but no grave it can be assigned with certainty.
