ALAS (missile)

The missile system ALAS - Advanced Light Attack system (where " alas" in Serbian and fishermen means ) is a guided missile from Serbia and is to be introduced from 2008 in the armed forces of Serbia.

The ALAS is a optical / wire steered missile system for soil and surface warfare. The system can be used in both ground-based and air-based. It is at distances between 100 m and 25 km, optional up to 60 km, is designed.

The missile system shows strong parallels with the 2003 aborted German - French-Italian Polyphemus program, which was designed as an anti-ship missiles up to a range of also 60 km away.
