Alaska Native Heritage Center

The Alaska Native Heritage Center is a museum dedicated to the culture of Alaska Natives in Anchorage.

1987 Alaska Federation of Natives responded that the biggest Ureinwohnerorganisation Alaska, to the desire for a meeting with the planning of a cultural center for the entire state. The result was scarce two years later, the Alaska Native Heritage Center as an independent, tax-exempt non-profit organization.

Between 1989 and 1999 could be collected for the construction of the facility with federal, state, local and private resources of 14.5 million U.S. dollars. The original plans had provided cost double the amount, and the project had to be adapted to existing resources.

The plot was bought in 1994 and the Heritage Centre was opened on 1 May 1999.
