Alaska Route 2

The Alaska Route 2 is a state highway in Alaska. It runs from Manley Hot Springs in interior eastward to the border of Alaska and the Canadian Yukon Territory.

In the West, the route starts at the end of a spur road near the Tanana River at Manley Hot Springs. This point is also the beginning of the Elliott Highway, the road follows past the junction with the Dalton Highway at Livengood to its end at Fox at the junction with the Steese Highway. On this she then runs south to Fairbanks. The Steese Highway is in the Richardson Highway on which the Alaska Route 2 to Delta Junction follows, where it merges into the Alaska Highway, which there has to be northwestern end. In the further course along the Alaska Highway, the route passes through the intersections with the Tok Cut -Off in Tok and the Taylor Highway at Tetlin Junction a few miles later and finally goes to the border with Canada in the Yukon Highway 1.

An extension of the route to Nome is discussed since 2009. The extension is to be approximately 800 km long and cost 2-3 billion dollars.
