Alastair Sim

Alastair Sim ( born October 9, 1900 in Edinburgh, † August 19 1976 in London) was a British actor.

Life

Alastair Sim was an actor mostly the comic role. An exception may have been 1951, his very haunting portrayal of Ebenezer Scrooge in the eponymous film adaptation of Charles Dickens novel A Christmas Carol. A year earlier, he starred in The Happiest Days of Your Life, with Margaret Rutherford on the side, the headmaster of a boys' school, which must also take an evacuated school for girls. In the same year he played under Alfred Hitchcock in Stage Fright. Hitchcock classified him but later as miscast for this role. In Germany Alastair Sim remained largely unknown. In the same year as Scrooge he plays on the side of Hugh Griffith, in Laughter in Paradise one of four heirs who must be forced only to their happiness.

In the role of Lord Harrogate, he was seen in 1976 in the Walt Disney Pictures production The small horse thieves (Escape From the Dark / The Littlest Horsethieves ) last appeared on the big screen.
