Albana (grape)

Albana is a white grape variety. This is an old variety from which in the Italian region Emilia- Romagna Albana di Romagna same white wine is produced. As the first white wine Albana di Romagna has received 1987 DOCG status. Albana Spumante is a sparkling wine is also produced from Albana.

The variety Albana is also called Greco or Greco di Ancona, but is not me the variety Greco Bianco related. In a study published in 2008, a relationship to the grape variety Garganega was prepared at Albana. Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In the ampelography the habit is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is strong hairy white wool, with crimson trace. The young green leaves are copper colored slightly hairy and spotted.
