Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012

The Albanian preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest 2012 took place on December 29, 2011 as part of the 50th Festivali i Këngës. It was organized by public broadcaster in the country, radio Televizioni Shqiptar ( RTSH ).

System

The Albanian contribution was the Festivali i Këngës ( FIK ) re-elected, which is held annually since 1962 and in 2011 celebrated its 50th edition. In addition to the usual two semifinals, there was also an anniversary show, where classic and evergreens were sung from the past 49 years. Among the local singers found themselves with Aurela Gaçe and Frederik Ndoci two former Albanian Euro Vision representative. Besides the two semifinals, the FIK thus comprised four evenings.

In the semifinals each of 14 songs were presented, after a jury standings, ten of these songs qualified for the finals on December 29 in which also decided by a jury. Previously, there were reports that the winner should be determined solely by a telephone vote, but this does not proved to be true.

In the scoring phase occurred alongside a children's choir, all former Euro Vision representative of the country since 2004 with shortened versions of their competition entries on - Anjeza Shahini with The Image of You (2004), Ledina Celo with Tommorow I Go (2005), Frederik Ndoci with Hear My Plea ( 2007), Olta Boka with Zemrën e lame peng (2008), Kejsi Tola Carry Me in Your Dreams (2009), Juliana Pasha It's All About You with (2010) and Aurela Gaçe with feel the Passion ( 2011); Luiz Ejlli was not present, was instead a video of his performance at the Euro Vision Song Contest 2006 shown. In addition, competition prizes were awarded:

  • Best Interpretation: Rona Nishliu
  • Best Lyrics: Sokol Marsi for Kristal
  • Best tune: Endri Sana Vjet for Mijëra
  • Best Orchestration: Klodian Qafoku for VLEn Sat nje jete

Euro Vision Song Contest

Rona Nishliu is thus represented Albania at the Euro Vision Song Contest 2012 in Baku. There she is in one of the two semi-final sing their competition entry Suu. At this, however, changes are still necessary because it significantly exceeds the maximum duration of three minutes for the Euro Vision Song Contest.

Nishliu who was born in 1986 in Mitrovica, Kosovo, Kosovo Albanian is the first that represents Albania at the international competition.
