Albelda

Albelda is a municipality in the province of Huesca in the autonomous community of Aragon in Spain. It is located in the La Litera in the predominantly Catalan Franja de Aragón. The environment is made of gypsum formations.

History

In Albelda various Iberian remains were found. The name of the village goes back to the Arabic al - balda ( البلدة ) (country town). After the Reconquista, the rule between the Dlözesen Lleida and Barbastro was controversial. In the 13th and 14th centuries was Albelda seat of a rule of the Counts of Urgell and later the Peralta. 1629 took place under Philip IV the survey on country town ( villa).

Economy

Albelda is predominantly agricultural ( orchards and wheat).
