Alberich Mazak

Alberich Mazak O.Cist. (* 1609 in Ratibor, Upper Silesia, † May 9, 1661 in Vienna) was an Austrian composer, conductor and choirmaster.

Life

Alberich Mazak 1629 appeared as already graduated philosophicus the Abbey of Heiligenkreuz in, was ordained a priest in 1633, was Master of Novices 1634-1639, 1636-1654 and 1639-1640 Cantor chori äbtlicher Secretary under Abbot Michael Schnabel, who had set up in Holy Cross a singing school. When Emperor Ferdinand III. 1639 Holy Cross visited, Mazak handed him three of his compositions, which was perform in Vienna, the Emperor then. In 1654 Mazak put back the management of the Schola; he died in Heiligenkreuzerhof in Vienna.

His major work, worship Harmonicus ( 1649), consists of three parts: 88 motets, masses and Offertories. Except for a few Christmas carols in German language are the most compositions for Latin texts.
