Albert Bielschowsky

Albert Bielschowsky ( born January 3, 1847 in Namslau, Silesia, † 21 October 1902 in Berlin) was a German literary scholar. He was known for his writings on Goethe.

Life

Bielschowsky was born in the Silesian Namslau ( Namyslów ). He studied philology at the University of Breslau and at the University of Berlin. In 1869 he received his doctorate in Wroclaw. From 1870 to 1886 he was in Brieg active in higher education service and then moved to Berlin. There he devoted himself to literary research.

His Goethe- book was well received by the literature. However Bielschowsky believed trains Goethe or parties related to them in stage characters of the poet, so Charlotte recognizable of stone in the Iphigenia or Duchess Anna Amalia in the Leonore Sanvitale without being able to justify this enough.

Because of his death, his work with Goethe remained unfinished, so that Theobald Ziegler just completed it.
