Albert Borschette

Borschette ( born June 14, 1920 in Diekirch, † December 8, 1976 in Brussels) was a Luxembourgian writer, politician and European Commissioner.

From 1958 to 1970 he was the Permanent Representative of Luxembourg to the European Communities in Brussels.

In 1970 he was European Commissioner for regional policy, competition and budget in the Franco Maria Malfatti commissions and Mansholt.

After 1973, he was only responsible for Competition in the Commission Francois -Xavier Ortoli. This he remained until 1976, until he died in the same year. He was so far the only member of the European Commission against the impeachment proceedings had to be done, but this is not due to misconduct, but because he no longer met as (initially) coma patient the conditions for the office, but not (more) able to withdraw.
