Albert Brooks

Albert Brooks ( born July 22, 1947 in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles as Albert Lawrence Einstein ) is an American actor and screenwriter.

Life

Albert Lawrence Einstein was born the son of actress Thelma Leeds, nee Goodman, and radio host Harry Einstein in Los Angeles. His older brother is the actor Bob Einstein. His grandparents emigrated from Austria and Russia. He himself is Jewish and grew up in the context of a show business environment. Brooks attended the same age Richard Dreyfuss and Rob Reiner, the Beverly Hills High School. He studied at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and broke after a year of his studies. He took a supporting role in the film Taxi Driver (1976 ) in which he starred alongside Robert De Niro, Jodie Foster and Harvey Keitel.

Brooks was nominated in 1988 for his role in the movie Broadcast News for the Film Award Oscar; he won the American Comedy Award and the Boston Society of Film Critics Award. In the movie Defending Your Life (1991 ) he was the director, played the leading role and wrote the screenplay for which he was nominated for the 1992 Saturn Award. In the thriller Out of Sight (1998) he played the millionaire Richard Ripley, the character played by George Clooney of Jack Foley wants to rob. In the comedy The In-Laws (2003 ), he starred opposite Michael Douglas one of the main roles.

As a screenwriter, he won the National Society of Film Critics Award for the movies upside down in America (1985) and Mother ( 1996).

Brooks is married to Kimberly Shlain since 1997 and has two children.
