Albert Edelfelt

Albert Gustaf Aristides Edelfelt ( born July 27, 1854 on Kiala gård in Porvoo, Finland, † August 18 1905 in Haikko, Finland ) was a Swedish painter and graphic artist finland.

Edelfelt studied painting in Antwerp and Paris, received an award in 1880 in Paris for the painting Ett barns likfärd ( corpse journey of a child ) and in 1881 in the Russian Art Academy - Finland belonged to Russia - elected. 1895 Edelfelt was elected chairman of the Finnish Artists' Association.

Edelfelt painted mainly scenes from the Finnish folk life. In addition, Edelfelt did out as an illustrator of books. In particular, to Ensign steel of Runeberg there are numerous illustrations of Edelfelt.
