Albert F. Dawson

Albert Foster Dawson ( born January 26, 1872 in Spragueville, Jackson County, Iowa, † March 9th, 1949 in Cincinnati, Ohio ) was an American politician. Between 1905 and 1911 he represented the state of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Albert Dawson attended the common schools and then the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Then he went into the newspaper business. In this industry, he worked from 1891 to 1892 in Preston and then 1892-1894 in Clinton. Politically, Dawson member of the Republican Party. Between 1895 and 1905 he was secretary of Congressman George M. Curtis and U.S. Senator William B. Allison. In the meantime, he studied finance at the George Washington University.

1904 Dawson was the second electoral district of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrats Martin Joseph Wade on March 4, 1905. After two re- election he was able to complete in 1911 three contiguous legislatures in Congress until March 3. In 1910 he forgo a bid again. In the same year he also rejected an offer of U.S. President William Howard Taft, who wanted to hire him as his secretary.

Between 1911 and 1929, Dawson was president of the First National Bank of Davenport. In 1930 he was Executive Secretary of the Republican National Senatorial Committee. Then he sat from 1931 to 1945 on the board of public utility works. He then retired to his retirement, he spent in Highland Park ( Illinois). Albert Dawson died on March 9, 1949 on a train near Cincinnati.
