Albert Henry Ottenweller

Albert Henry Otten Weller ( born April 5, 1916 in Stanford, Montana, USA; † 23 September 2012 in Toledo, Ohio) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Steubenville.

Life

Albert H. Otten hamlet grew up in Leipsic, Ohio, on. He attended St. Joseph High School and later St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana. In 1943 he graduated in philosophy and Catholic theology at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. Bishop of Toledo, Karl Joseph Age, donated him on 19 June 1943, the ordination. He was vicar at St. John the Evangelist Church in Delphos and 1959-1961 in St. Richard Church in Swanton. 1961/62 he was pastor at St. Joseph Church in Blakeslee and the associated Mission Sacred Heart of Montpelier. From 1962 to 1968 he took over the parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bono and also the Spanish- speaking apostolate of the diocese 1958 until 1969. 1968 he assumed the pastorate of St. John the Evangelist Church in Delphos and was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 17 April 1974 Titular Bishop of Perdices and Auxiliary Bishop of Toledo. He received his episcopal consecration of the bishop of Toledo, John Anthony Donovan, on 29 May of the same year; Co-consecrators were Joseph Bernardin, Archbishop of Cincinnati, and William Michael Cosgrove, Bishop of Belleville. On October 11, 1977, he was by Paul VI. appointed bishop of the Diocese of Steubenville and officially introduced in this office on 22 November.

January 28, 1992 Pope John Paul II accepted his pre- mounted resignation for reasons of age. He took his retirement home in Toledo, Ohio, and was rector of the Holy Rosary Cathedral until 2010.
