Albert III, Margrave of Brandenburg-Salzwedel

Albrecht III. (* 1250, † 19 November to 4 December 1300) was Margrave of Brandenburg. He belonged to the from 1266 to 1317 askanischen existing line of Brandenburg- Salzwedel.

Life

Albrecht III. was the son of Otto III. and Beatrix ( Bozana ), daughter of King Wenceslas I of Bohemia.

As the son of Otto, he led though the title Margrave and documented in this function, various shops, but remained only " co-regent ". The Mark Brandenburg policy specific to his time, his cousin Otto IV "with the arrow". Albrecht III. managed the 1236 fallen to Brandenburg rule Stargard. 1284 Albrecht III was. sole ruler of Stargard and Lychen. After the death of his sons Otto and Johann ( to 1299 ) gave Albrecht III. his son Henry II of Mecklenburg ( by simulated purchase ) the rule Stargard, which had already been brought in 1292 by Albrecht's daughter Beatrix as a jointure with in her marriage to Henry. A year before his death, in 1299 he donated to the Cistercian order in the country Lychen the construction of the monastery - " porta coeli " ( Gate of Heaven ). On December 4, 1300 Albrecht died III. and was buried in the monastery Lehnin. 1309 was the transfer of the mortal remains of Albrecht III. from Lehnin in the monastery founded by him Himmelpforter. However, the remains were lost over time.

Albrecht III. had since 1268 with Matilda of Denmark ( † 1300 ), daughter of King Christopher I. (Denmark), married.
