Albert Jan Maat

Albert Jan Maat ( born February 8, 1953 in Heino ) is a Dutch politician of the party Christian Democratisch Appèl (CDA ). Since the September 20, 2013 he is President of the European Farmers' Association.

He was from 1999 to 2007 Member of the European Parliament for the Netherlands and Deputy at that time Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (2002 to 2004) and the Committee on International Trade ( 2007). He was especially responsible for the cooperation committees of the European Union with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, and for relations with Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia. Since 2007 he works for the Agriculture Organization Land-en Tuinbouworganisatie (LTO ) in the Netherlands.
