Albert Kan-Dapaah

Albert Kan - Dapaah ( born March 14, 1953) is a Ghanaian politician. In the cabinet of President John Agyekum Kufuor he is since August 2007 Defence Minister as the official successor to Kwame Addo Kufuor -.

Training

Kan - Dapaah visited the Acherensua Secondary School and, after graduating from the Institute of Professional Studies to study accounting / auditing 1964-1969. In 1975 he enrolled in the North East London Technical College a (North East London Polytechnic ) and later at the Emile Woolf College of Accountancy ( Accountancy ).

Career

Since 1978, Kan - Dapaah different positions has held in private companies and public institutions. As auditors ( Audit Senior ), he worked at Pannel Kerr Forster 1978-1986, among others in Monrovia and London. In January 1987, he was Head of Department of Accounting at Social Security and National Insurance Trust ( SSNIT ). He was director of accounting at the Electricity Company of Ghana in September 1987 and rose to the Director of Finance. He served six years this position.

Kan - Dapaah is in Accra, Ghana partner his own company Kwesie, Kan - Dapaah and Baah Co.. He is also a Managing Consultant Company Kan - Dapaah and Associates, a small firm of accountants. At the University of Ghana and the Institute of Professional Studies, he was a part-time also involved in teaching in the field of accounting. He was elected president of the Institute of certified public accountants ( Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) of Ghana in 1996. He was also Vice President of the Association of audit firms in West Africa ( Association of Accountancy Bodies ).

Kan - Dapaah was the representative of the Ashanti Region in the National Council. He is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP ) and Member of the Committee for Finance and Economic Affairs of the NPP in the years 1992 to 1996.

Since January 1997 he has been Member of Parliament for the constituency in Ghana Afigya Sekyere West. Under President John Agyekum Kufuor, he was initially between 2005 and April 2006 the Minister for Communications. In April 2006, he became a minister in the Home Office and has now Defense Minister in August 2007.
