Albert Lee

Albert Lee ( born December 21, 1943 in Leominster, Herefordshire ) is a British guitarist. He lives in California, United States.

In the early 1960s played Lee in various English bands in Germany. In 1963 he joined to together with Berry Jenkins, the German rock singer Mike Warner and his group The Echo Lette. In England he played among others with Neil Christian. In 1964, he joined Mike Warner again, this time in the group "The Fender ". He then moved on to " Chris Farlowe & The Thunderbirds ", where he remained for four years. He then played in the domains of Bands " Country Fever " and " Heads Hands & Feet "; latter produced 1971-1973 three albums and meant for Lee the breakthrough to international fame for his exceptionally fast and precise guitar playing. Lee played with on Jon Lord's solo album Gemini Suite ( 1971).

In 1973, Lee participated in the recording of the London Sessions by Jerry Lee Lewis. Also attending were the guitarist Alvin Lee of Ten Years After and Rory Gallagher. This year, Albert Lee began to occasionally perform with the Crickets, the former band of Buddy Holly. In 1974 their album Long Way From Lubbock.

Lee remained some time in Los Angeles, where he recorded the album Sunset Towers recorded with Don Everly. In late 1974 and early 1975, Lee was with Joe Cocker in North America, Australia and New Zealand to tour. In 1976 he went to the " Hot Band " by Emmylou Harris. With this line- Harris had their greatest successes as Luxury Liner or C'est la vie. During and after this time Lee was elected to five consecutive years by the prestigious magazine "Guitar Player" the best country guitarists.

In 1979 Lee's first solo album, Hiding, where he had worked since 1975. Meanwhile, he was a member of the band by Eric Clapton, where he remained for five years to hear, inter alia, on the live album Just One Night.

1982 came out the second solo album Albert Lee. Lee is represented with contributions on countless country and rock 'n' roll records, including Dave Edmunds and Rodney Crowell. 1983 Lee worked with the Everly Brothers. His next albums were Speechless (1986) and Gagged But Not Bound. Since 1987, he regularly tours with " Hogan's Heroes" by Gerry Hogan. In 1993, he took with them in Montreux, the live album In Full Flight on.

Two other groups in which Albert Lee then sometimes occurred, were Sterling Balls "The Biff Baby All-Stars " and Bill Wyman 's Rhythm Kings. On 29 November 2002 Albert Lee took part in the memorial concert for George Harrison, which was held at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Lee is friends with manufactures Sterling Ball, the owner of Ernie Ball Incorporation, the guitars and strings. The portfolio of the company includes an Albert Lee signature guitar.

A special feature of Lee's game is the use of a B -bending technique. With this in 1965 by Gene Parsons and Clarence White constructed mechanism, it is possible to play pedal steel licks on the guitar, which Lee developed to perfection. Except for his extraordinary guitar playing Lee is known for his singing, his piano playing and his songwriting.
