Albert P. Forsythe

Albert Palaska Forsythe ( born May 24, 1830 in New Richmond, Clermont County, Ohio, † September 2, 1906 in Independence, Kansas ) was an American politician. Between 1879 and 1881 he represented the state of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Albert Forsythe attended the public schools of his home and then the Asbury University in Greencastle (Indiana), later DePauw University emerged from the. Over the next eight years he worked as a traveling preacher in the Methodist Church. During the Civil War he served as a lieutenant in an infantry regiment from Indiana in the army of the Union. In 1865, he moved to Illinois, where he engaged in the farmer movement. For six years he headed the State Grange of Illinois. Politically, he joined the Greenback Party.

In the congressional elections of 1878, Forsythe was in the 15th electoral district of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrat John R. Eden on March 4, 1879. Since he has not been confirmed in 1880, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1881. In 1882, Forsythe moved to the vicinity of Liberty in Kansas, where he worked in agriculture. Between 1886 and 1892 he served as Regent the Kansas Agricultural College. He died on September 2, 1906 in Independence.
