Albert Ray

Albert Ray ( born August 28, 1897 in New Rochelle, New York, † February 5, 1944 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American film director, actor and screenwriter.

Life

Ray was connected during his school days to the film because he worked as part of the solid ensemble of Vitagraph in the summer holidays. After finishing school, he played summer theater among others at the Harlem Opera House in New York City. As a director, he began with short films that he made for operations currently located on the east coast Pathé; In 1915 he went to Hollywood. As a film actor he worked there occasionally to 1922; but mainly he focused on directing.

Ray turned 1915-1939 numerous films; First he put Ben Turpin Comedy for Vogue Pictures before, then he was at the Fox Film Corporation and was responsible for the Sunshine Comedies. 1921 came with Scrap Iron his film debut in the cinema, where he staged his cousin Charles Ray (as in nine other comedies ). Back at Fox, he turned the series with Helen and Warren and nineteen feature films, some in its screenplay. In Paramount Pictures, he worked in the short film department. Among others, emerged in later years some B- Western starring Johnny Mack Brown.

Ray was married to stage actress Roxana McGowan; which later became divorced went forth two children.
