Albert Van Coile

Albert " Brown has " Van Coile ( born March 27, 1900 in Bruges, † April 4, 1927 ) was a Belgian footballer. He was defender, played exclusively for Cercle Brugge and was known by his early death at the age of 27 years.

Life

Born in Bruges in 1900 Albert Van Coile played in his life only for the local club Cercle. From 1919 he was active in the first team of the club for which he played 182 games. In addition, he was in 1926 in an international match against the Netherlands for the Belgian national team on the court.

Larger gained fame Van Coile by his 1927 suffered death at the age of only 27 years: During a tournament in Tourcoing, in which he played in the striker position, Van Coile collided with a keeper. From the clash out he suffered while no visible injuries, but one day after the incident, a crack was discovered in the gut with him. A hastily performed surgery proved unsuccessful, Albert Van Coile died on April 4, 1927 in his home town of Bruges.

His funeral took place in Belgium great deal of media attention. In the summer of 1927, a few months after Van Coiles death, Cercle Bruges won the Belgian championship.
