Alberto Aleman

Alberto Alemán Zubieta ( * 1951 in Panama City ) is a native of Panama engineer. He was responsible for the administration of the Panama Canal from 1996 to 2012, first as administrator of the Panama Canal Commission and from 1999 as CEO of the Panama Canal Authority.

Education and professional career

Alemán graduated in engineering at Texas A & M University and then worked as an engineer and later Managing Director of one of the largest engineering firms in Panama.

Professional activities related to the Panama Canal

1995 his company was tasked with reviewing, designed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to clean up the Panama Canal. After this task was completed successfully, Zubieta took over at the request of then President Ernesto Pérez Panama Balladares the post of head of the Panama Canal Commission.
