Alberto Mazzucato

Alberto Mazzucato ( born July 28, 1813 in Udine, † 31 December 1877 in Milan ) was an Italian composer and music educator.

Mazzucato studied in Padua mathematics and music. In 1834 he made ​​his debut as a composer with the opera La fidanzata di Lammermoor on the novel by Walter Scott. It was followed by several more great operas, including Esmeralda to Victor Hugo (1838 ), I corsari (1840 ) and Hernani (1843 ). Then he gave the work as a composer in favor of his teaching.

From 1839 he was a singing teacher of the girls class at the Milan Conservatory. In 1851 he was a teacher of composition here, from the following year he also taught music aesthetics and history. In 1872, he was the successor of Lauro Rossi as director of the conservatory. Among his pupils were, inter alia, Antônio Carlos Gomes and Arrigo Boito.

He also worked as director 1854-55 and 1859-69 as concert master ( maestro direttore e concertatore ) at La Scala. From 1845 to 1858, he was also an employee of the Gazzetta musicale di Milano.
