Alberto Ponce

Alberto Ponce (actually Alberto González Muñoz, born March 13, 1935 in Madrid ) is a Spanish guitarist and guitar teacher.

Life

Ponce was born in Spain and received his first musical training at the Conservatory in Barcelona. Then he met Emilio Pujol, a student of Francisco Tárrega, who taught him in Siena, first at the Conservatory in Lisbon and then at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana. In 1961 he was appointed professor of guitar at the Conservatoire de Paris and then at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, where he worked until today.

Importance

Alberto Ponce has his teaching major influence on contemporary Giarristik and made numerous internationally renowned guitarists from, including

  • Jean -François Delcamp ( b. 1956 ), professor at the Conservatoire de Musique de Danse et d'Art dramatique de Brest métropole océane
  • Roland Dyens ( b. 1955 ), professor at the Conservatoire de Paris and one of the most influential contemporary guitarist and composer for guitar
  • Luis Manuel Molina ( born 1959 ), Cuban guitarist and composer
  • Kaori Muraji (born 1978 ), Japanese guitarist with numerous publications

Ponce were dedicated by contemporary composers works for guitar, including by Antonio Ruiz- Pipó, Maurice Ohana and Roland Dyens. Ponce wrong with artists such as Alexandre Tansman or Robert Vidal.
