Alberto Quintano

Alberto Quintano ( born April 26, 1946 in Santiago de Chile ) is a former Chilean football player at the position of central defender.

Life

Quintano began his professional career in 1963 at his hometown club Universidad de Chile, with whom he won three times in the Chilean championship in seasons 1965, 1967 and 1969.

In the summer of 1971 Quintano moved to Mexico, where he stood up to the end of 1976 with Cruz Azul under contract and three times in a row won the Mexican championship 1972-1974.

Early 1977, he returned to his home and played until the end of 1980 again for Universidad de Chile and then for one season at Universidad Católica and Magallanes, where he ended his active career in 1982.

Between 1967 and 1979 Quintano denied a total of 47 missions for the Chilean national team. Highlight of his international career was the participation in the Football World Cup in 1974, when he ( 0-1 against West Germany, 1-1 against the East and 0-0 against Australia) played in all three games of the Chilean selection.

After his playing career, he was a long time as a coach in his native active. Since June 2009, he holds the post of sporting director at his Exverein Cruz Azul.
