Alberto Ricardo da Silva

Alberto Ricardo da Silva ( born April 24, 1943 in Vila General Carmona, Portuguese Timor ) is the Roman Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Dili in East Timor.

Silva visited the primary school of Nuno Alvares Pereira in Colégio Soibada. One of his classmates there was the later politician and freedom fighter Nicolau dos Reis Lobato. After that he went to the seminary of Our Lady of Fatima in Dar. On August 5, 1972 Silva received the sacrament of Holy Orders. In Dili, he studied at the seminary and then to study philosophy sent to Macao. He studied theology in the seminary put Silva of Leiria in Portugal continued until he received a scholarship for spiritual theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

Silva worked as a spiritual director and later became rector of the seminary in Dare and Vicar General of Dili. As of 2000, Silva was rector of the seminary Peter and Paul in Dili. Pope John Paul II appointed him on 27 February 2004 to the Bishop of Dili. He received his episcopal consecration Bishop Basílio do Nascimento on 2 May of the same year, which he replaced with his office as Bishop of the task as Apostolic Administrator of Dili.
