Alberto Valerio

Alberto Valerio ( born September 6, 1985 in Ipatinga ) is a Brazilian automobile racing driver. In 2005 he won the South American Formula 3 Championship. From 2008 to 2010 he drove in the GP2 Series.

Career

After he began his motorsport career in karting, moving in 2003 Valerio formula racing and drove in the South American Formula 3 He was in his debut season 18th in the standings. After 2004, reached its first podium finishes in this championship he won in 2005 with four wins the championship of the South American Formula 3 He also started in these three years in some races in the Brazilian Formula Renault.

In 2006 he moved to the British Formula 3 Championship, where he could reach the eleventh place overall with a podium placement. He also was on the last race weekend of the 2007 season, his debut in the World Series by Renault. In the subsequent British Formula 3 2007 season, he moved to Carlin Motorsport and improved to eighth place in the driver standings. A race victory was denied him again this season. Like last year, he competed in the final race of the World Series by Renault.

2008 Valerio was taken from GP2 team Durango for the GP2 Asia Series and GP2 regular series under contract. His teammate was in both series of the Italian Davide Valsecchi. In the first season of the GP2 Asia Series, the Brazilian could only once for points and finished in fifth place at the end of the season 19th overall. In the season 2008, the European GP2 series, it did not succeed to score points. In both championships he was inferior to his teammate Valsecchi significantly.

In the season 2008/2009 GP2 Asia Series Valerio started in a race for Trident Racing and finished without points in 37th place overall. In the regular series, he moved to Piquet GP and denied his second season at the side of the experienced GP2 Pilotens Roldán Rodríguez. After he had scored his first points in GP2 Series during race weekend in Istanbul, he later won two weeks, the main race at Silverstone. This victory was not only his first GP2 victory, but it was also his first victory in a European formula class. As he was traveling only with moderate success and was able to enter otherwise no further points, he finished at the end of the season 15th overall. He also began again at a race weekend of the World Series by Renault.

In the season 2009/2010 GP2 Asia Series Valerio took part for the Scuderia Coloni in the second run and finished at the end of the season the 32nd overall. He also went for Coloni in the 2010 GP2 Series European capitals at the start. After the seventh race weekend of the Brazilian, who could only enter in a race points, was replaced by Álvaro Parente. At the end of the season, he finished 22nd overall.
