Alberto Williams

Alberto Williams ( born November 23, 1862 in Buenos Aires, † June 17, 1952 ) was an Argentine composer and conductor.

Life

Alberto Williams was born into a musical family; Grandfather Benjamin Williams was born in Exeter. He received his first musical education in his hometown. 1882 gave him a scholarship pursuing studies at the Paris Conservatory. His composition teachers included, inter alia, Benjamin Godard and especially César Franck.

In 1889 he returned to Argentina, where he worked as a piano teacher, pianist, conductor and composer. In Buenos Aires, he founded the Conservatorio de Música de 1893 Buenos Aires, which opened more than 100 branches across the country. The line of the Conservatory he held until 1941.
