Albignac

Albignac ( Occitan: Albinhac ) is a commune with 241 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Corrèze of the Limousin region on the western edge of the Massif Central. It belongs to the district Brive- la -Gaillarde, founded the Canton Beynat and to the 2002 Association of Municipalities Canton de Beynat.

Albignac is the original headquarters of the extensive noble family of the same name.

Geography

The community Albignac lies about 14 kilometers east of Brive- la -Gaillarde. The western and southern border is the Roanne, a left tributary of the Corrèze. The village itself is situated at about 330 m altitude, 120 meters above the valley of Roanne. To Albignac part of the district Flaugeat.

Neighboring communities of Albignac are Palazinges in the northeast, Beynat the east and southeast, southwest, and Dampniat Lanteuil in the northwest.

The tower of the Church of the Nativity of Mary ( Église de la Nativité- de -Notre -Dame) dates from the 12th century and has been designated a Monument historique.
