Albinen ( in local dialect: Albinu [ albɪnʊ ]; French Arbignon / Albignon ) is a village and a municipality in the district of Leuk in the German-speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland.
Name
The place is first mentioned in 1224 as albignun documented; the place name could go back to a Latin personal name * Albinione.
Geography
Albinen situated on a slope at the entrance to the Dala valley, a road connects it to the rich thermal spring Leukerbad Leuk and the place.
The attractions of Albinen are numerous surviving Valais mountain farmhouses and barns. The village church, however, is built in a very modern style, after the old church was destroyed by an earthquake. In the village is a private mill museum, which opened once a week.

Economy
The village lives mainly from tourism; due to the proximity to the Torrent Lift it is visited in winter especially of ski tourists. Starting from Albinen can also undertake challenging hikes; some are only suitable for heights, hike the example, the route to Leukerbad on the Albinenleitern.
