Albrechtsberg Palace (Dresden)

The Albrecht Berg Castle, also called Albrecht castle, is one of the three on the right bank river Elbe in Dresden.

It was built in 1850-1854 by Adolf Lohse for the Prussian Prince Albrecht, the youngest brother of the Prussian King Frederick William IV and William I ( since 1871 also German Emperor ). Prince Albrecht of Prussia was no longer desired by the Countess of Hohenau at the Prussian court due to his second, not befitting wedding.

Architecture

The Prussian- classical building Adolf Lohse (1807-1867), a pupil of Schinkel, acts like an exotic car in the predominantly Baroque architecture landscape of Dresden.

The park was also the Prussian garden architect Eduard envy (1818-1883), designed and built under the leadership of the royal gardener Hermann Sigismund Neumann (1823-1880), who later took the forest park bladder joke designed. It is divided into different landscape areas. About a viaduct the right of way is possible for Roman bath. From the near Dresden Heath, the, operated year-round to the Roman Baths, fed water games in the pool, the pond and the artificial waterfall.

History

The park is open to the public since 1930. At the time of the GDR, the Castle Dresden children served since 1951 as the Pioneer Palace " Walter Ulbricht " as a leisure center. From this, the Youth Art School Dresden developed after the turn.

Since 1991, the Hotel and Restaurant School Castle Albrecht Berg GmbH is also located in the castle grounds. Today, the Albrecht Mountain Castle of the concert and congress Dresden mbH operates. There are concerts, readings and other events regularly. The Dresden registry office also performs marriage ceremonies.

The interiors have been restored since the late seventies. Worth seeing are the Turkish bath in Moorish- oriental style and the Crown Hall.
