Alburnus istanbulensis

Alburnus istanbulensis is a freshwater fish of the carp family fish. It was originally considered a subspecies of Mairenke ( Alburnus chalcoides ) and occurs in Turkey.

Features

Habitat and behavior

Alburnus istanbulensis inhabited flowing and standing water. During the spawning season the type migrates to the upper portions of the tributaries. Eggs are laid in rapids with strong currents on the gravel base. The search for food is near the surface in the lower regions of rivers.
