Alcalá del Río

Alcalá del Río is a Spanish city in the province of Seville Autonomous Community of Andalusia. The place had 2012 11.513 inhabitants in the year.

History

At the time the place was called Iberian Ilipa. In Ilipa won the year 206 BC Scipio in the Battle of Ilipa over the Carthaginians. In Visigoth times, the place is mentioned as a bishopric.

1594 belonged to the kingdom of Alcalá del Río Sevilla ( Crown of Castile ), the places at that time numbered 586 inhabitants.
