Alcazar (Band)
Alcazar is a Swedish pop group.
The band was initiated in 1999 by the Swedish artist Alexander Bard, who gained notoriety with Army of Lovers and Vacuum. The three other members are Andreas Lundstedt, Tess Merkel and Annikafiore Kjaergaard (born Johansson ).
Band History
With their first single Shine On they landed in her home a hit. Your European breakthrough trio with their third single Crying at the Discoteque in summer 2001, which is largely based on the hit Spacer by Sheila B. Devotion of 1979.
Both songs can be found on the debut album Casino. Later pressings of the CD also contained a cover of Human League 's classic Do not You Want Me, which was coupled out in the spring of 2002 as a single.
In December 2002, Magnus Carlsson joined the band. Along with him came the second album Alcazarized, which appeared in Sweden in 2003 in the rest of Europe into an international version in the summer of 2004.
In autumn 2004 they reached with their single This Is the World We Live from in the German single charts, a mashup of samples of number - one hits Upside Down by Diana Ross from the year 1980 and the chorus of the Genesis Hits Land of Confusion 1986 mixed.
2003 and 2005 took part in the preliminary round at the Swedish Alcazar Euro Vision Song Contest. They occupied with their songs Not a Sinner Nor a Saint (2003) and Alcastar (2005 ) each finished third.
In 2006, band member Andreas Lundstedt part as part of the casted group six4one for Switzerland at the Euro Vision Song Contest. In 2007 he sang in the Swedish preliminary decision to Euro Vision Song Contest, failed with his title Move but already in the first round. Magnus Carlsson band member starts in the third preliminary round of Melodifestivalen 2007 on 17 February 2007, his title and Live Forever also failed.
In February 2008, the group was formed new, of the original cast are only Andreas Lundstedt, Tess Merkel and as group members here. New addition is the Swedish singer Lina Hedlund. The single Keep On Rockin ' appeared on 4 February 2008 exclusively in Sweden.
On February 7, 2009 Alcazar took in a new formation at the first preliminary round of Melodifestivalen, the Swedish preselection for the Euro Vision Song Contest, in part, reaching entitled Stay the Night directly to the final. When Melodifestivlalen 2010 retired her title Headlines in Andra Chansen round against Jessica Andersson.
In June 2011 it was announced on the website that the band will take a break from August 2011 and no further performances are planned.
In February 2013 Alcazar occurred in the semi-final of Melodifestivalen framework program on Swedish television.
