The Alcedo is one of the smallest and lowest of six shield volcanoes on the Galapagos island of Isabela. He is also known under the name of Volcan Calderon.

Its height is 1130 meters and 1993 the last eruption occurred on the southern part of the caldera. Most of his suspension and the caldera are forested, the northern flank but dominated by young lava flows. The Alcedo is the only volcano in the Galapagos Islands, which rhyolitic as well as basaltic lava has promoted. In the caldera is an active geothermal field. Historical records show another outbreak in the year 1953 ( ± 7 years) on the southeast flank near the Cartago Bay.
