Alcest

Alcest is a band founded in 2000, France from Avignon.

Band History

The group or the solo project of Neige ( fr.: Snow ', civil Stéphane shall adapt ), who also played in Peste Noire drums, 2001, on a demo called Tristesse Hivernale. Neige was at the time when only 15 years old. The band was based at that time on Black Metal.

On the published 2005 EP Le Secret changed Alcest her lyrical and musical profile completely, though black metal elements on the plate were in the music sporadically available, but the atmosphere is no longer dark, but rather " dreamy " and the lyrical concept now based on impressions from Neiges childhood and youth, which he called " Fairyland " .. Later this EP was re-recorded.

Since their debut album Souvenirs d' un autre monde ( fr.: Memories of another world ' ), there are strong influences of genre mainly shoegazing and post-rock in Alcest music. Ben Ratliff of the New York Times music department designated Alcest as " what happens when Enya Black Metal would make ." Prophecy Productions The band is under contract; The label describes Alcest musical concept as " application of Slowdive and Yann Tiersen to Burzum ".
