Alcester (pronounced ' Olster ' or ' aulster ') is an old market town of Roman origin at the confluence of Alne and Arrow in Warwickshire, England; the place is located about 15 kilometers west of Stratford- upon- Avon. The 2001 census showed 6214 inhabitants.
History
In Roman times, Alcester ( Aluana ) was a fortified village at the point where the Roman Ryknild Street and the Old Salt Way met from Droitwich Spa.
