Alcyone (star)

Alkione ( Eta Tauri, η Tauri ) is the brightest star of the cluster of the Pleiades. It takes its name from the Pleiad Alkione, by Poseidon was the mother of Aithusa in Greek mythology. The name (in Arabic ) means " queen who defies the evil ( Storm ) ".

Alkione is a Be star of spectral type B7 and luminosity class IIIe. It is approximately 367 light years away. It has an apparent magnitude of 2.87 mag and an absolute magnitude of -2.50 Mag
