Geographical location

Aldingen is 583-806 meters above sea level on the eastern edge of the Baar plateau at the foot of the Swabian Alb on the Prim

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by the city of Rottweil and Frittlingen, to the east by Denkingen, in the south on the town Spaichingen and in the west on the town of Trossingen and Deißlingen in the district of Rottweil. The municipality is a member of the Agreed administrative community of the city Spaichingen.

Community structure

The municipality Aldingen with the 1975 eingemeindeten community Aixheim are six villages, hamlets, farms and houses. For the former municipality Aixheim include the village Aixheim, the hamlet of Neuhaus and the houses Neueichhof, Neuhof and Täfermühle. In the community Aldingen in territorial status in 1974, the village and the waste places Aldingen Dellingen, under Select and Winzingen lie. In the territory of the former municipality Aixheim are the waste places Amrizhausen, Heidenbühl and Ramsen.

Climate

In Aldingen a weather station is operated. The annual mean temperature is about 8.2 degrees Celsius. The total precipitation amounts to 850 mm and the sun shines an average of 1700 hours a year. The climate is classified for this altitude to be rather mild.

History

As the suffix -ingen suggests Aldingen is an Alemannic settlement. During the restoration of the Mauritius Church archaeological investigations have brought to light findings, according to which the settlement can be traced back to the 4th century. It postholes of a wooden church from the period were exposed to 700. In the late 11th century a stone church was built on the site then.

The village was mentioned in 802 in a donation document of the monastery of St. Gallen for the first time. 1444 Aldingen came to the then County of Württemberg and was therefore Protestant during the Reformation. In the district there was formerly the castle Schlößlesbühl.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1975, until then independent municipality Aixheim was incorporated into Aldingen.

Religions

The Protestant parish includes the municipalities Aldingen, Aixheim, Denkingen and Frittlingen. Since 1964 there is again a Catholic church in Aldingen Catholic parish since 1980. The Catholic church Aldingen is organized in pastoral unit Klippeneck - Primtal.

Since 2003 there is a mosque for the Islamic citizens in the area.

Traffic

Aldingen is located on the Gäubahn and since the introduction of the 2003 Ringzugs again Bahn station. Aldingen is located on the main road 14, between Rottweil and Tuttlingen. State and county roads connect the town with Trossingen, Shura, Aixheim and Denkingen.
