Aldo Ghira

Aldo Ghira ( born April 4, 1920 in Trieste, † July 13, 1991 in Rome ) was an Italian water polo player, who competed for Lazio.

In the first Water Polo European Championship after the Second World War, which was fought in 1947 in Monte Carlo, won the Italian team with Pasquale Buonocore, Ermenegildo Arena, Emilio Bulgarelli, Aldo Ghira, Mario Mainoni, Geminio Ognio, Gianfranco Pandolfini, Tullio Pandolfini, Luigi Raspini, Umberto Raspini and Cesare Rubini ahead of the teams from Sweden and Belgium.

The following year, the Italian team came at the Olympic Games in London with nine European champions in only the brothers Raspini missing. The Italian team won ahead of Hungary and the Netherlands. The Italians played in the preliminary round draw against Yugoslavia, but won all the other games, where Aldo Ghira scored a total of 19 of the 39 Italian hits.
