Aldo Giordano

Aldo Giordano ( born August 20, 1954 in Cuneo ) is an Italian clergyman and diplomat of the Holy See.

Life

The Bishop of Cuneo, Carlo Aliprandi, consecrated him on 28 July 1979 after the conclusion of the diocesan seminary for priests. He then continued his studies at the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy in Fossano and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, where he received a doctorate in philosophy. He helped P.W. parish ministry St. Pius X in Cuneo. His interests are mainly concentrated around the ethical issues and problems of modern philosophy. Many works are devoted to dialogue with the work of Friedrich Nietzsche.

On May 15, 1995, he was elected Secretary General of the Council of European Bishops' Conferences ( CCEE) and confirmed in each case on 4 October 1998 and October 3, 2003 in office. Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on June 7, 2008 for the Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the Euro Europe in Strasbourg.

On October 26, 2013, Pope Francis Giordano Titular per hac vice by Tamada and Apostolic Nuncio to Venezuela. He received his episcopal consecration Pro- Secretary of State Pietro Parolin on 14 December of the same year. Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Cuneo, Giuseppe Cavallotto, and the apostolic nuncio in Poland, Archbishop Celestino Migliore.
